McDonald's announces its sponsorship plans for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa As an Official Sponsor and the Official Restaurant of the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™, McDonald's has announced its sponsorship programme for what will be its fifth World Cup™ sponsorship.
Meanwhile, McDonald's FIFA World Cup Fantasy Football online game has returned for 2010 at www.FIFA.com. Passionate football fans can showcase their skills and challenge football enthusiasts in the online community by creating and managing their own team of World Cup players. McDonald's FIFA World Cup Fantasy Football winners will receive exclusive prizes throughout and at the conclusion of the Tournament, including a Kia car and autographed football jerseys.
In South Africa itself, the McDonald's Fan Dancers programme is providing forty South African women (ages 18-25) with the unique opportunity to attend the World Cup and perform dancing routines at twenty-one matches in Gauteng at Soccer City Stadium, Ellis Park in Johannesburg and Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria during the tournament. Acclaimed South African dancer and choreographer, Lorcia Cooper, has teamed with McDonald's to lead all aspects of the programme, from dancer auditions to training the performers and choreographing their routines.
An exclusive McCafé for reporters at the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa will be located in the International Media Center, next to the Soccer City Stadium in Johannesburg. This go-to destination for reporters will offer McCafé beverages and food, including specialty coffees, fruit juices, muffins, pastries and sandwiches.
Mosaic will now work to build a strong and effective chapter in Qatar, drawing support from across Qatari society. The Qatar chapter will establish its own priorities to support Qatari youth development in line with the vision of HRH The Prince of Wales.
Amongst other activities, Qatar will, in July, for the second year, send young representatives to the UK to participate in the Mosaic International Leadership Summit at Cambridge University, which brings together participants from seventeen countries to develop their leadership skills and appreciation of their role in society.
John O'Brien said: "We are very excited about working with Shell as an internationally-renowned company, committed to social and environmental responsibility. We hope in due course to see further individual and corporate partners join with Shell to develop the Qatar chapter. We are confident that with such enthusiasm the programme will make a strong contribution to helping young people in Qatar to develop themselves personally and professionally and contribute to wider international projects. His Royal Highness will be pleased to hear about the progress we are making in the State of Qatar, a country which I know is close to his heart".
Andy Brown said: "Shell is delighted to support the establishment in Qatar of this initiative from His Royal Highness. We believe Mosaic can contribute to making Qatar National Vision 2030 a reality, particularly the human development pillar. We look forward to working with the Mosaic team to make this initiative a success".
