StudyAdelaide backs a winner with Adelaide United sponsorship

The Adelaide City Council has announced that it is now a sponsor of Adelaide United, as the club prepares to do battle with the best Asia has to offer.

The Council joins Education Adelaide and the South Australian Tourism Commission in a sponsorship deal that will see the StudyAdelaide brand used on the players' strip during United's upcoming AFC Champions League campaign.

Adelaide City Council Chief Executive Officer Peter Smith says highlighting Adelaide to overseas students further increases the City’s standing as a high quality study destination.

"At the moment about 5000 students from overseas live within the Council’s boundaries", Mr Smith said. "They form strong friendships with South Australians and provide our business community with high quality potential employees and excellent business links throughout the world".

Adelaide United CEO Sam Ciccarello said it was fantastic to have StudyAdelaide back on board as the major front of shirt sponsor for the Asian Champions League campaign. "Being in such a prestigious tournament we will be able to spread the message of StudyAdelaide in Asia while we compete in the AFC Champions League, both at home and away", he added.

Recognition

"StudyAdelaide has been with the club previously in the AFC Champions League and we believe that with the Adelaide United brand continuing to gain exposure and familiarity both here and across Asia, this partnership will be an extremely beneficial one".

Education Adelaide Chief Executive Denise von Wald welcomed the sponsorship announcement and said the already successful StudyAdelaide brand will gain further recognition in important overseas markets such as China and South Korea.

These latest results would seem to reinforce the strategy to grow the international education industry and position Adelaide as Australia’s learning City. "We recognise and acknowledge the real socio-economic value international students contribute to the South Australian community", Ms von Wald said.

Education is the fourth largest South Australian export at a value of $892 million.

Bartercard becomes new naming rights partner of the New Zealand National Basketball League

Bartercard was today announced by the New Zealand National Basketball League (NBL) as the new naming rights partner for the NBL tournament for the next three years.

The league, which tips off on Thursday, 4th March with last year’s champions Waikato taking on Nelson, will be known as the Bartercard NBL, effective immediately, with a deal worth in excess of half a million dollars over the next three years.

This is the biggest ever sponsorship deal in domestic basketball and is seen as a reflection of where the league lies in New Zealand’s sporting landscape.

Involvement

Chairman of the NBL board, Sam Rossiter-Stead, welcomed Bartercard as naming rights partner.

"This is a fantastic new partnership for the NBL which offers the league financial security for the next three years", he said. "However, this deal has a far greater value than that, with the opportunities it presents for us to develop our business networks right across New Zealand".

"Bartercard is delighted to become the naming right sponsor for the NZNBL. We have progressively increased our involvement in Basketball in New Zealand and this is a great opportunity for us to assist the growth of Basketball in every region", said Paul Bolte, Bartercard New Zealand's CEO.

"We want to see basketball become a sport of choice for fans and players in New Zealand and are passionate about helping to make a difference".
