Vodafone and MTV announce landmark sponsorship deal

Vodafone Australia and MTV Networks Australia have announced one of the biggest brand partnerships in the Australian music industry.

In a first for MTV, Vodafone has secured the naming rights sponsorship of the 2009 Vodafone MTV Australia Awards.

As part of the agreement, Vodafone and MTV Networks Australia will also produce a weekly 60 second news segment, "Fresh Clips", with Ruby Rose, highlighting the hottest new music releases. This will be broadcast on the MTV Australia channel as well as the Vodafone live! mobile platform, direct to Vodafone customers.

Pat Cunningham, Head of Sponsorship at Vodafone Australia, says a growing consumer appetite for mobile music makes the partnership a perfect fit for both brands. "Vodafone is changing the way people experience music on the move. Vodafone customers can already use their mobile to access their entire music catalogue, share playlists with friends and catch all the latest music news.

Enhanced

"By coming together with MTV, Vodafone will now be able to offer an enhanced music experience to its customers on their mobile, at live events and through MTV programming", he said.

Dave Sibley, Managing Director, MTV Networks Australia & New Zealand, said: "MTV and Vodafone share a passion for innovation and a commitment to bringing fresh, exciting content to consumers. We’re delighted that Vodafone have chosen to partner with us in such a meaningful way – it’s a testament to the strength of our overall brand, our many franchises and our ability to work cross platform with other forward-thinking companies".
