Leading German soccer club HSV loses key sponsorship backer

HSH Nordbank is to terminate its partnership with Bundeslige football club HSV prematurely, with effect from 30th June, 2010. The original agreement was due to run until 2013.

The sponsorship has been bringing in an estimated 4.5 million euros annually for HSV since 2007 but now HSH Nordbank has activated a clause included in the original contract and withdrawn their support. The bank has been in financial difficulties of late, drawing on government support to the tune of some three billion euros.

Emporio Armani: official sponsor of the XIII Fina World Swimming Championships Rome 2009

Emporio Armani will be an official sponsor of the XIII Fina World Swimming Championships Rome 2009, which will take place this summer between 17th July and 2nd August. Giorgio Armani has designed the official uniforms for the Italian team and members of the Fina committee.

The look created by the designer specifically for the athletes includes a two piece suit in navy blue jersey, with a two-button jacket featuring contrast white piping which is paired with trousers in a soft cut with a drawstring waist and a polo shirt in navy blue cotton piqué and white sneakers in suede, with edges and logo embroidered in blue.

Giorgio Armani's relationship with the world of sport is well-documented. He has dressed numerous champions, and has also published a book called Faces of Sport, featuring remarkable images of champion sportsmen and women including Olympic athletes, to raise money and awareness for the international Special Olympics movement.
